The implantation of the museum into the small town of Moirans is explained by the local tradition of lathe work with daily object toy manufacturing. Between 1950 and 1960, most of the toy companies in Jura are turning to plastic toy manufacturing. Now, one french toy in two is made in the Jura area. 2000 toys of the 19th and 20th century present us with the cultural evolution throughout the world. The permanent exhibition tells about the history of toy manufacturing, from its origins to the most recent innovations. We find out about the lathe-workers'lives, who have refined their technical gestures, generation after generation and have adapted to the market. They have been able to show a great ingenvity in order to move from wood to plastic. Thanks to videos, these men, filmed while working on the site, explain to us the difficulty of their jobs, the precision in their work and their passion for toys.
A shop, as well as educational and play activities, is also accessible. All information and directions you might need will be on our site. Click here.
